A few things!
1. Shampoo Bars are 'package-free' which means you are cutting down on plastic waste.
2. Shampoo Bars are in concentrated bar form without all the water: this means a little goes a long way. The carbon footprint of the product is also much smaller for this reason.
3. Regular shampoos that you find in drugstores typically have A LOT of additives (dyes, perfumes, preservatives, parabens, sulfates etc) and surfactants (harsh detergents that strip your hair of it's natural oils) which are not the healthiest for your hair or your body. Shampoo bars tend to have cleaner & greener ingredient lists.

Hair care is an incredibly personal choice! Not every product that works for one person will work for others. Our bar is made with simple, natural, and moisturizing ingredients - it's hard to go wrong there! While we hope our bar will be a great fit for your hair, you might need to explore different formulations and different brands to find your perfect match.
We do hope that wherever your shampoo journey takes you, you continue to stick with natural ingredients and package-free formats! -
No! We have partnered with Modern Hippie® again (they also makes our dish soap!) to create our body soap and shampoo bar. The founder, Carly, started Modern Hippie® after learning about the lack of transparency in the skin and body care industries, along with the toxic effects of many common ingredients on our bodies and our environment. Carly makes each product by hand in Halfmoon Bay, Canada.

NOTHING. What you are noticing is the difference between 'stripped' hair, and hair that has retained it's natural oils after a wash. It absolutely takes a moment to adjust to the new feeling, but your hair is definitely clean. After a week or two, you won't even notice the difference.
Because this shampoo bar doesn't contain surfactants (harsher detergents), make sure you rinse thoroughly to remove all the grease and dirt from your hair.

Everything in our bath collection is biodegradable. You will never find any micro-beads or sparkles in our products!
-
Conditioners are typically used to deposit onto hair after it has been stripped with detergents. As our shampoo bar is non-stripping and VERY hydrating, we thought a conditioner bar was redundant.
However, a leave-in hair oil or serum might still be a vital part of your styling routine!

You should keep your shampoo bar in a soap dish that provides proper drainage. Leaving your shampoo bar in a puddle of water or under your shower spray will degrade it faster.

Jute! Jute is a fibrous tall plant - what we usually call jute are the fibers harvested from the skin and stem of the plant.
Jute has an extremely low C02, water and ecological footprint. Jute also requires no pesticides grow and matures in 4-6 months, offering a high yield within a small area of land.

This dynamic duo replaces body wash bottles and plastic loofahs altogether! Pop the bar of soap inside the bag, run under water, and watch as suds begin to appear through the fabric. Work up a good lather as you exfoliate and wash your body with the bag (filled with the soap bar). At the end of your shower, hang the soap/bag combo to dry from your shower caddy.
The soap bag is especially useful for keeping your bar soap good until the very end, even when it's just a tiny sliver left. Never again will your soap bar crumble down the drain - your soap bag has you protected.
